UGM Vice-Rector for Education and Teaching, Professor Wening Udasmoro, welcomed the visit of Thailand’s Yala Rajabhat University on Tuesday (23/4).
This is one of the efforts that UGM is currently making to intensify the reach of cooperation with universities in Southeast Asia.
At the discussion, both universities shared a vision to work together to develop programs beneficial to the ASEAN region and improve the quality of humankind’s education and livelihood.
“Collaboration opportunities may include online joint classes, joint research, and tuition-fee scholarships,” Vice-Rector Udasmoro explained.
Dr. Sukree Langputeh, a Yala Rajabhat University Council member, responded that his team is interested in establishing cooperation in exchange programs, joint classes and workshops, and research with UGM.
“In the coming semester, UGM and Yala Rajabhat University can organize collaborative lectures and workshops for Master’s and PhD students,” Dr. Langputeh said.
He added that his university journals can also be used as a publication platform for research collaborations between the two. Additionally, he suggested that the exchange programs may engage lecturers and professors in addition to students.
In response, UGM Director of Partnership and Global Relations Professor Puji Astuti shared the upcoming UGM summer courses. The UGM Faculty of Economics and Business’s two-week Global Summer Week program, held in July, is among the programs offered.
“Global Summer Week still has some seats available,” Dr. Dewi Fatmawati from the UGM Faculty of Economics and Business added, inviting the students of Yala Rajabhat University to join this lively event to kick off the exchange cooperation between the two universities.
