The QS World University Rankings has released the 2024 rankings of world universities based on subjects. The university list was announced on April 10, 2024.
This year, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) outperformed various other universities in Indonesia, securing first place in engineering and technology.
UGM achieved a score of 64.1. This score is calculated using several indicators. The first indicator is academic reputation, with a score of 71.2, followed by employer reputation (69.2), citation per paper (60.7), h-index citation (46.6), and lastly, international research network (41).
The engineering & technology evaluation covers eight subjects: chemical engineering, civil and structural engineering, computer science and information systems, data science and artificial intelligence, electrical and electronic engineering, petroleum engineering, mechanical engineering, and mineral and mining engineering.
On a global level in engineering and technology, UGM ranks 316 alongside Dalian University of Technology China and Kyung Hee University South Korea. At the Asian level, Tsinghua University China holds the first rank with a score of 87.1. Globally, MIT has the first position with a score of 96.8.
This achievement undoubtedly motivates the UGM Faculty of Engineering (FT UGM) to continuously improve the quality of its services related to the tri-dharma of higher education and to support sustainable development, especially SDG-4, which is quality education.
Commenting on this achievement, Professor Selo, Dean of FT UGM, emphasized the unwavering commitment of the entire FT UGM community. Their focus lies in providing the best facilities and support system to empower future leaders for a rapidly evolving world where change happens at an unprecedented pace.
“UGM’s top ranking in engineering in Indonesia according to the 2024 QS WUR marks the continuous growth of this field at FT UGM. We remain dedicated to relentless improvement, ensuring this growth continues. We aim to empower the Indonesian nation towards technological sovereignty and independence,” Dean Selo concluded.
