Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) has clinched the overall champion title at the 36th National Student Scientific Week (PIMNAS), held from November 27 to 30 at Padjajaran University in Jatinangor.
In this edition of PIMNAS, UGM dominated the medal tally with 29 medals: 11 gold, nine silver, and nine bronze medals.
Professor Ova Emilia, MD, the Rector of UGM, expressed her joy at the team’s success in returning the rotating trophy for the overall championship at PIMNAS to UGM.
“Congratulations to the UGM contingent for achieving the overall championship once again,” she said on Thursday (November 30) after receiving the Adhikarta Kertawidya Rotating Trophy at Padjajaran University.
The rector mentioned that the achievements of the UGM team were not easy, considering that PIMNAS is a prestigious competition in the country with increasing levels of competition each year.
“With this victory, it means that the quality of research and works produced by UGM students is improving,” she explained.
In the 36th edition of PIMNAS, UGM successfully advanced 62 teams to the final round out of the 282 UGM teams that received funding for program implementation.
They secured five gold, five silver, and five bronze medals in the presentation category and six gold, four silver, and four bronze medals in the poster category.
Two UGM students also received individual awards for their talents. Muhammad Jhony Fonsen received an award in the PKM PM (Community Service) 1 category, while Seravin Afra Secunda received an award in the PKM K (Entrepreneurship) 4 category.
PIMNAS, an annual national student competition organized by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology, provides a platform to enhance students’ creativity in developing science and technology and improve their competence in presenting intellectual works.
This edition of PIMNAS saw the participation of 525 groups in the Student Creativity Program (PKM) from 106 universities across Indonesia, involving a total of 2,411 participants and 77 judges.
