Special Polling Station (TPS) officials are crucial in the electoral process. With the upcoming voting day slated for Feb. 14, 2024, these officials bear the responsibility of overseeing the elections with utmost integrity, ensuring fairness and honesty throughout.
This message was underscored by Surai, Commissioner of the Sleman Regional Election Commission (KPU), during a coordination meeting with TPS officials within UGM, held on Monday (Feb. 5) at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, UGM.
Addressing the 63 TPS officials, Surai emphasized the importance of neutrality and integrity in executing their duties.
“TPS officials must ensure that the electoral process adheres to regulations, maintaining neutrality and upholding integrity,” he articulated to the gathered officials.
In the execution of the 2024 elections, UGM is actively engaged in ensuring the seamless conduct of this significant democratic event by facilitating students from outside the region to exercise their voting rights.
UGM has designated nine special TPS locations across five areas within its premises, anticipating 2,611 prospective student voters to cast their ballots in the UGM special TPS.
The process involves 36 independent supervisors and 63 TPS officials, selected from the UGM student body and local security officers from Caturtunggal Village, Sleman.
Meanwhile, Dr. Sindung Tjahyadi, Director of Student Affairs at UGM, urged TPS officials to discharge their duties effectively during the elections, emphasizing the importance of non-interference in the voting process.
“We trust that TPS officials will fulfill their responsibilities diligently, as the reputation of UGM hinges on their conduct,” he affirmed.
