The Department of Economics and Business, UGM Vocational College, through the 2023 Matching Fund program, organized the Swara Suvarna Concert at Driyarkara Auditorium, Sanata Dharma University, on Sunday (19/11).
The concert, initiated by Dr. Anggito Abimanyu, a lecturer and the Head of the Department of Economics and Business, aimed to commemorate the 14th anniversary of the Vocational College, which reached its peak on Friday (October 27).
Several artists, Student Activity Units, and high school students in Yogyakarta collaborated in this event, delivering captivating performances to the audience.
Dr. Abimanyu explained this concert resulted from the Kedaireka program from the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology, in collaboration with ADiTV and Infobank Digital Asia.
The Swara Suvarna Concert presented music in an orchestral format, supported by 150 musicians from Gadjah Mada Chamber Orchestra (GMCO) and the UGM Marching Band, with Guest Stars Dwiki Dharmawan, Ghea Indrawari, Lucky Octavian, Brian Prasetyoadi, Ade Rudiana, and Singgih Sanjaya.
“It also features the Vocational College student choir and dancers who have made a special impression on this concert, producing creative content in music, lyrics, and futuristic, inspirational, and harmonious dance,” said Dr. Abimanyu.
The Swara Suvarna Concert presented a splendid collaboration performance by the GMCO, Dentachestra from the UGM Faculty of Dentistry, Padzchestra from Yogyakarta State High School 3, and the UGM Vocational College student choir. They performed 13 songs, including ten new compositions.
All the songs performed provide positive value for the younger generation, inspiring them to develop their potential and realize the 2045 Indonesia Vision.
“One notable composition is “Nyanyian Negeriku,” a medley combining ten regional songs from Sabang to Merauke into one 13-minute piece. The song is performed with a large orchestra format collaborating with a choir, ethnic music, and dance performances,” added the department head.
The Dean of the UGM Vocational College, Professor Agus Maryono, expressed his gratitude to the guests and all parties involved. He stated that in its 14 years of existence, the UGM Vocational College has created stories and expressed its spirit and soul through music, dance, and art.
The collaboration of GMCO, Dentachestra, and Padzchestra provided an engaging performance despite the differences in age and background. The event concluded with a dance performance by Vocational College students presenting traditional Indonesian dances.
