Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) has accepted a total of 2,821 new undergraduate (S1) and applied undergraduate (D4) student candidates through the academic excellence-based entrance selection (SNBP) 2024 pathway, announced on Tuesday (Mar. 26).
The prospective students accepted through SNBP come from a total of 29,223 applicants. Of the admitted candidates, 2,287 undergraduate and 534 applied undergraduate students were enrolled.
UGM Vice-Rector for Education and Teaching, Professor Wening Udasmoro, extended congratulations to all prospective students accepted at UGM through the SNBP pathway. These students have undergone a rigorous selection process and are expected to be strongly committed to studying at UGM.
“Congratulations to all of you who have been accepted at UGM. We hope you can demonstrate your commitment to studying here,” Vice-Rector Udasmoro said on Tuesday (Mar. 26).
“For those who were not accepted, you can continue to prepare for the next selection pathways at UGM, namely the regular SNBT pathway and the independent selection (UM-PBU and UM-CBT), as well as the International Undergraduate Program (IUP).”
Professor Udasmoro explained that in 2024, UGM has a capacity of 10,372 students, divided into the regular pathway with a capacity of 9,362 seats and the International Undergraduate Program (IUP) with a capacity of 1,010 seats.
Through the SNBP pathway in 2024, UGM will provide a quota of 2,821 new students, 30 percent of the total regular capacity of 9,362 seats for new student admissions in 2024.
The remaining 30 percent, 2,821 students, is the quota for the national entrance test (SNBT) pathway, and the 40 percent, 3,720 quotas, is for the independent selection pathway (UM-PBU and UM-CBT).
Prospective students declared successful through SNBP must immediately fulfill the document requirements for re-registration. The registration procedure will be announced on Mar. 28, 2024, at 15:00 WIB on um.ugm.ac.id.
Prospective students must fill in data and upload documents according to their conditions. If cheating is discovered during verification, UGM may revoke their acceptance of SNBP.
The decision of the SNBP results is binding. Prospective students accepted in the SNBP pathway cannot automatically apply through SNBT in 2024 and the independent selection pathway at any university. Likewise, if the results are not followed up, there will be a ban on national selection registration for the next two years.
In the new student admissions for 2024, the government made several adjustments, including to higher education cost components. These adjustments consider the single tuition fee limit (BKT) as regulated in the Minister of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology Regulation (Permendikbudristek) Number 2 of 2024 concerning the Standard Cost Unit for Higher Education Operational Costs in State Universities (SSBOPT) within the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology and the Minister of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology Decree (Kepmendikbudristek) Number 54/P/2024 concerning the Amount of Standard Cost Unit for Higher Education Operational Costs.
In these regulations, the government announced the implementation of an institutional development fee (IPI) for prospective students who register through the independent selection pathway.
Prospective students accepted through the SNBP and SNBT pathways are not subject to IPI. The addition of the IPI component aims to support the development and innovation of universities and improve the quality of higher education in Indonesia.
In addition to adding the IPI component to higher education costs, the single tuition fee (UKT) for several study programs has been adjusted. These adjustments are made considering the BKT limit and the economic capacity of students or their parents.
