Rector Emilia noted that, to date, UGM has obtained international accreditation for 85 study programs, 40 of which are accredited by ASIIN.
Rector Emilia explained that ASIIN has been an important partner for UGM in maintaining quality standards, conducting ongoing accreditation processes, and providing recommendations for improvements over the past decade.
“This moment serves as strong evidence that UGM will continue its commitment as a leading institution in Southeast Asia that prioritizes excellence in education and innovation,” Rector Emilia remarked during the Opening Ceremony of the ASIIN International Accreditation Procedure at Multimedia Room 1, UGM Central Building, Tuesday (Nov. 26).
The rector acknowledged that the opening of this ASIIN International Accreditation Procedure is a special moment to celebrate ASIIN’s 25th anniversary with the theme “Heading to New Shores.”
UGM congratulated ASIIN for promoting high-quality educational standards in various fields.
“With the spirit of being ‘locally rooted and globally respected,’ UGM continues to innovate in various aspects, including educational management, quality monitoring, and encouraging study programs to achieve international accreditation,” she said.
Professor Volker Bach, an expert in Mathematics and Mathematical Physics representing ASIIN, expressed his enthusiasm for conducting the accreditation process over the next three days.
He also mentioned that the ASIIN audit team, consisting of representatives from Indonesia and Germany, greatly appreciated their warm welcome in Indonesia, particularly at UGM, an extraordinary and highly respected academic institution.
“We look forward to this accreditation process as an effort to strengthen the quality of education at UGM, which will positively impact the development of higher education in Indonesia as a whole,” Professor Bach stated.
As introduced, several experts from the ASIIN audit team, including Professor Florian Zaussinger and Maria Mothes, hail from Germany.
Professor Zaussinger mentioned that he is an interdisciplinary academic who has been active in research since 2006 and has been involved in research programs and teams that have produced various publications.
