The Center for Digital Society (CfDS), Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Universitas Gadjah Mada (Fisipol UGM), has officially joined the Network of Centers (NoC), a prestigious international consortium of research centers focusing on digital technology, the internet, and society. Confirmation of CfDS Fisipol UGM’s membership in NoC was received on March 3, 2026, and was formally welcomed by Armando Guio Espanol as the Executive Director of the Global Network of Internet and Society Research Centers.
NoC is currently coordinated by the Berkman Klein Center for Internet & Society at Harvard University and serves to bring leading research institutions from top universities around the world. The network functions as a global platform for collaborative research, knowledge exchange, and the development of digital policies.
Syaifa Tania, Executive Secretary of CfDS Fisipol UGM, expressed gratitude for the center’s acceptance into the NoC membership. According to her, by becoming a member of NoC, CfDS Fisipol UGM has gained institutional recognition for the quality of its research, which has contributed significantly to the global digital knowledge ecosystem.

According to Tania, joining the NoC is an honor, as it positions Indonesia on the global digital research map alongside institutions from some of the world’s most prominent universities. She stated that CfDS’s membership as a Participating Center in the NoC reflects its commitment to remain an innovative, productive, and influential research center under Fisipol UGM.
“Through this membership, we hope to expand CfDS’s contributions to society not only at the national level but also on the global stage. We hope this participation will open broader opportunities for international network collaboration and provide tangible benefits in empowering communities through digital technology,” said Tania at Fisipol UGM on Monday (Mar. 16).
Tania explained that as a participating center, CfDS will be listed in the global directory of NoC research centers. With this membership, CfDS gains access to the network’s exclusive mailing list, which connects researchers across institutions and enables participation in the collaborative activities outlined in the NoC Roadmap 2024–2026.
“This membership strengthens CfDS’s capacity to expand its international network, enhance the visibility of its research, and consolidate its reputation as a globally recognized center for digital society studies in Indonesia,” she said.
