After successfully navigating the rigorous Monitoring and Evaluation (Monev) of Public Information Openness in 2023, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) has once again claimed the title of Informative Public Institution from the Central Information Commission of Indonesia (KIP RI).
Scoring an impressive 98.44, UGM now stands tall as one of the top 2 Best National Public Institutions in the State University category.
The official award conferment upon UGM occurred at the Vice President’s Palace in Jakarta on Tuesday (Dec. 19). Indonesian Vice President K.H. Ma’ruf Amin led the award ceremony alongside all KIP commissioners.
Professor Supriyadi, who serves as the UGM PPID Consideration Team member and Vice-Rector for Human Resources and Finance, proudly accepted the honor.
Donny Yoesgiantoro, Chair of KIP RI, highlighted that the Monev covered a comprehensive range of 369 public institutions across various categories, including ministries, non-ministerial government institutions/state institutions, non-structural institutions, provincial governments, state-owned enterprises, state universities, and political parties.
Of these, 139 public institutions earned the coveted Informative predicate, marking a notable achievement exceeding the target of 90.
“The Monev aims to assess public institutions’ implementation of Law Number 14 of 2008 concerning Public Information Openness and optimize the duties and functions of PPID as the front guard of public information service to the community,” explained Yoesgiantoro.
Dr. Arie Sujito, part of the UGM PPID Consideration Team, expressed that this recognition is a testament to UGM’s unwavering commitment to implementing various agendas and policies related to public information transparency—a priority program at UGM.
UGM plans to amplify its innovative efforts by collaborating with the Central Information Commission, Regional Information Commissions, and strategic partners in advancing public information transparency agendas.
“Proud and grateful for the collaboration and contributions of all parties involved in public information services, so this year UGM has achieved the Informative Public Institution predicate for five consecutive years,” Dr. Sujito said.
“This year’s award is even more special because it is presented directly by the vice president, and UGM received a very satisfying assessment, including being in the top 3 nationally.”
Vice President Ma’ruf Amin lauded the improvement in public information transparency over the last decade, with the establishment of Regional Information Commission institutions in almost all regions.
He noted a surge in informative public institutions, from just 15 in 2018 to an impressive 139 in 2023.
“In 2018, there were only 15 informative public institutions. But in 2023, the number has increased significantly to 139 informative public institutions,” highlighted the vice president.
Conversely, the number of non-informative institutions substantially decreased, dropping from 303 in 2018 to 147 in 2023.
