The Healthy Village Development activity is one of the work programs of the Student Health Unit at UGM as a means of organizational action and realization of the three pillars of higher education, namely community service.
This activity is an effort for health promotion to achieve a healthy Indonesian society and is conducted this year in Payungan Village, Bantul.
The Healthy Village Development activity includes health checks for older people, promotion of family medicinal plants, classes, and adolescent counseling, which will take place from July to August 2023.
This adolescent health counseling on Sunday (16/7) aims to achieve SDG 3, which strives to ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all ages. This activity seeks to improve the nutritional status of adolescents by promoting healthy eating behaviors and initiating the Youth of Payungan Health Post.
Approximately 50 adolescents attended the activity, which began with weight, height, and blood pressure checks. Then, a pre-test was conducted, followed by the delivery of materials.
The topics taught to the attendees included balanced nutrition, four main pillars of balanced nutrition, guidelines for balanced nutrition, the “My Meal Dish” guideline, balanced nutrition recommendations for pre-pubescent and pubescent adolescents, and anemia.
A Pandak II Community Health Center nutrition consultant, Heni Dawati, presented the materials. Afterward, a post-test in the form of a trivia quiz and material review was conducted to measure the participants’ understanding.
The activity ended with distributing prizes to the four most active participants and presenting certificates to the speakers. The participants involved in the entire activity responded positively and welcomed the initiative.
“The activity is very beneficial in shaping outstanding cadres, and the adolescents gained an additional understanding that can be applied in their daily lives,” said Wahyu, a Youth of Payungan Health Post member.
Sayyidah, Head of the Community Service Division of UKESMA, hopes that the adolescents in Ciren will become more aware and active in carrying out activities at the Youth of Payungan Health Post, leading to improved and measurable health conditions.
