Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) and Da Yeh University, Taiwan, have agreed to establish cooperation in developing semiconductor and AI learning for students.
This emerged during the visit of Da Yeh University Vice President Professor Shi-jen Yeh when he met with UGM Rector, Professor Ova Emilia, on Thursday (May 22), at the UGM Central Office’s guest room.
UGM Rector Professor Emilia stated that during this visit, Da Yeh University opened opportunities for educational and research collaboration between the two universities.
Professor Emilia revealed that UGM welcomes invitations from international university partners to establish cooperation in various fields.
“UGM will always expand its international partner network, one of which is with higher education institutions in Taiwan,” Professor Emilia said.
Professor Emilia elaborated that Da Yeh University also offered cooperation with a focus on research currently being conducted by Da Yeh University.
This research includes fields such as engineering, business, industrial design, and biotechnology.
Additionally, Da Yeh University also opened opportunities for further collaboration with UGM to strengthen student competencies in Physics and AI.
“Their campus is located in a strategic industrial technology area. Taiwan is now very well-known for semiconductors, in the utilization of AI, and also physics,” Professor Emilia stated.
Meanwhile, Dean of the UGM Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA UGM), Professor Kuwat Triyana, who also attended the meeting, affirmed that, in addition to opening up collaboration opportunities,
This collaboration aims to enhance student learning in technology, and Da Yeh University also plans to establish a care and service center for the elderly.
“This program will be the first elderly care service program by a university approved by the Ministry of Education in Taiwan. The establishment of this program is prompted by the increasing number of older adults in Taiwan. We are invited to cooperate in smart healthcare,” Professor Triyana said.
Professor Yeh stated that Da Yeh University is also focusing on developing waste management, especially battery waste from electric vehicles.
Da Yeh University has already collaborated with waste recycling companies and developed an automatic sorting system based on robots.
“We will focus on recyclable materials, especially now that electric vehicles are becoming more prevalent,” Professor Yeh concluded.
