Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) and Vrije University of Amsterdam signed a memorandum of understanding to strengthen collaboration in academic and research activities on Thursday (Aug. 21) in the Executive Meeting Room, UGM Central Office.
The agreement encompasses cooperation in various areas, including student exchanges, international conferences, joint research and publications, cultural development, quality assurance, student initiatives, the utilization of laboratory facilities, the exchange of academic resources, and other forms of collaboration.
UGM Vice-Rector for Research, Business Development, and Partnerships, Dr. Danang Sri Hadmoko, welcomed the collaboration, emphasizing its potential to advance academic and research development for both universities.
“I believe with Vrije University of Amsterdam, we already have a long-standing collaboration. We will continue to strengthen and intensify this cooperation,” he said.
Professor Jacqueline van Muijlwijk, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, expressed her wish for broader collaboration at the faculty level, not only in science and health, but also in the social sciences and humanities.
“We hope this cooperation will allow us to grow together with new concepts for the next five years,” she remarked.
Chair of the Department of History at UGM’s Faculty of Cultural Sciences (FIB UGM), Dr. Abdul Wahid, also expressed his hopes that the agreement would expand collaboration, particularly in history and the humanities.
