The Doctorate Program in Psychology focuses on developing academic capacity, research skills, and scientific publication, producing graduates who can contribute to advancing psychological science and resolving societal issues. Students who complete the program will earn a Doctoral degree (Dr.) with a multidisciplinary perspective and academic experiences that support career development in higher education, research, and professional practice.
Using the 2020 Curriculum, the learning process integrates lectures, structured learning, and experiential learning. One of the program’s distinctive features is the opportunity for students to engage directly in Scientific Journal Editorial Internships, Teaching Internships in Undergraduate and Master’s Programs, and Research and Publication Mentoring Internships, as well as to participate in international seminars and conferences. This approach provides academic experiences that are practical, collaborative, and relevant to the development of the global academic landscape.
The Doctorate Program in Psychology at UGM offers a Fast-Track Master’s–Doctoral Program, which was launched in the 2025/2026 Academic Year. This program is designed for Master’s students from the Faculty of Psychology UGM who are highly motivated to pursue doctoral studies in a more accelerated and focused pathway.
Through this program, students can maintain continuity between their master’s thesis research and doctoral dissertation, enabling their academic work to become more focused, efficient, and impactful. The fast-track scheme also provides opportunities for students to accelerate their academic progress and conduct research relevant to societal needs.

As part of strengthening its global network, in 2025, the program established a collaboration with Erasmus University Rotterdam through the Learning Mobility ISS+ Program. This program provides doctoral students with the opportunity to participate in learning mobility activities in the Netherlands and develop dissertation research using a youth studies approach aligned with their respective research topics.
This international experience supports the development of cross-cultural perspectives, global academic collaboration, and the enhancement of doctoral students’ research quality.
The program is supported by a conducive academic environment with intensive supervision from highly qualified promoters, including Professors, internal faculty members, and adjunct professors with extensive experience in international research and publications.

The Doctorate Program in Psychology has received “Unggul” (Excellent) accreditation from the National Accreditation Board for Higher Education (BAN-PT) as recognition of its high-quality education, research, and academic governance.
In addition, the program offers four study tracks that students may choose from at the beginning of their studies: the Publication Track, Methodology Track, Teaching Track, and Fresh Graduate Track. These tracks are designed to accommodate students’ academic backgrounds, experiences, and competency development goals.
