Thirty-three companies participated in UGM Integrated Career Days held at Grha Sabha Pramana UGM on June 15–16, 2024. This job fair, organized by the UGM Alumni Office, demonstrates UGM’s commitment to supporting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) focused on decent work and economic growth.
The event was opened by UGM Vice-Rector for Education and Teaching Professor Wening Udasmoro, along with representatives from the Indonesian Ministry of Manpower, Muhammad Yusuf, Head of the Labor Market Center, and related regional offices.
Aria Nugrahadi, Head of the Yogyakarta Special Region Manpower and Transmigration Office, and Sumaryati, Head of the Placement Division at the Sleman Manpower Office, were also present.
In her opening speech, Professor Udasmoro stated that UGM continues to commit to the quality of its graduates by developing curricula and learning processes to ensure students have the competencies needed by the workforce.
“UGM is committed to developing Indonesia’s best talents. As a leading higher education institution, we continuously adapt our curricula and learning experiences to align with the dynamic needs of industry,” said Professor Udasmoro.
Muhammad Yusuf expressed his support for the job fair organized by UGM. This support reflects a shared commitment to preparing the best talents. He says UGM graduates play a significant role in Indonesia’s economic development.
“Now is the right time to capitalize on Indonesia’s demographic bonus. UGM alumni have the qualifications needed to drive the country’s economic progress,” he said.
Students and graduates from various clusters, including Science and Technology, Agriculture, Medicine, and Social Sciences and Humanities, participated in the event. Activities included a career expo and company presentations from partner companies, career talks and workshops led by alumni experts, career counseling with psychologists, and walk-in interviews offered by several partner companies.
Under the theme “Knight’s Quest: Forge Your Career Destiny!”, the event was open to the public, ranging from high school students to professionals, and took place over two days, Saturday and Sunday, June 15-16, 2024.
Integration between the university, industry partners, government agencies, and non-profit organizations is essential to improving the quality of Indonesia’s human resources.
