The transport sector contributes significantly to the energy consumption in Indonesia. Research and innovation in the field of energy, especially in fuel-efficient vehicles, are required for energy efficiency efforts. Energy Efficient Car Contest (Kontes Mobil Hemat Energi/KMHE)) is an event that provides a great opportunity for students to develop their creativity in designing and building economical, safe and environmentally friendly vehicles.
In the last three years, KMHE has been held regularly under the Ministry for Research, Technology and Higher Education of the Republic of Indonesia (Kemenristekdikti). This year, the Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) will host the 2016 KMHE 2016 that will be held from November 1 to 4 2016, located in the temple complex of Prambanan.
At the KMHE 2016, UGM brings up the philosophy of Memayu Hayuning Bawana (to beautify the world). This philosophy is inspired by the culture of Kraton Yogyakarta for the theme of this year KMHE which focused on innovation, education, and the noble values of Javanese culture.
“KMHE 2016 is special, given technological innovation work of students would be held at Prambanan temple, so there is a fusion of elements of technology, heritage and education. This is the benefit of KMHE 2016 that is organized by UGM, “said the Chairman of the organizers, Dr. Adhika Widyaparaga, Thursday (13/10).
