UGM Vocational School along with National Institute of Technology (NIT) Japan continue to have collaborations. On Tuesday (29/3) NIT visited UGM to strengthen the collaboration and prepare for International Symposium on Technology for Sustainability (ISTS) 2016 to be held in October in Yogyakarta.
“We’re running the International Student Organization Committee (ISOC) meeting at UGM this time for two days,” said Deputy Director for Academic and Student Affairs of the School, Dr. Wikan Sakarinto, S.T., M.Sc. Wikan explained that NIT had officially appointed SV UGM to host the International Symposium on Technology for Sustainability 2016. ISTS 2016 also involves Ibaraki and Oyama polytechniques under NIT Japan.
The international symposium involving students will contribute ideas and solutions to address global problems, including technology application which is efficient, relevant, and sustainable to the supply of energy in the world.
“Hopefully, students can be motivated to compete at global level and produce ideas to contribute to addressing global problems,” he said.
Formerly, ISTS was held in Thailand, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Malaysia. Participants will join a series of events during the ISTS 2016 from 4-12 October 2016, which include symposium, research, workshop, and discussion, all held in Hotel Indoluxe and Poncosari village in Bantul.
