YOGYAKARTA- Acting Director of Vocational School of UGM, Ir. Hotma Prawoto Sulistiyadi, MT, has been elected Director of the School for the period 2012-2016. Hotma defeated two other candidates, Dr. Fahmy Radhi and Wikan Sakarinto, S.T., Ph.D. at an election on Thursday (20/9).
In the one-round election, Hotma obtained 83 votes while Fahmy Radhi 26 and Wikan Sakarinto 16. Two other votes were disqualified. The total of voters was 127.
After the ballot counting attended by Executive Secretary of UGM, Drs. Djoko Moerdiyanto, M.A, Fahmy Radhi and Wikan Sakarinto shook hands and congratulated Hotma.
Th newly elected Hotma is committed to make Vocational School as a diginifed institution, able to contribute to solving national problems.
“This, among others, can be done through networking and skilled and certified human resources,” Hotma said.
Hotma described work programmes to be conducted, among others management arrangement, education and teaching management as well as good, effective, transparent and accountable accounting systems and curriculum drafting.
“Community service and research need to be developed as part of knowledge delivery and career development of lecturers,” said the man born in Balige, Tapanuli Utara , 8 March 1956.
He also saw some opportunities arising from the development of Vocational School in the future, namely the increased public demand for certified experts as there are too many graduates from scientific disclipines that do not fully meet the need and opportunities in professional work market as well as the increasing public demand due to the the speedy developments of IT.
