YOGYAKARTA- Faculty of Biology has the potential in developing Indonesian biodiversity that could be used for scientific and commercial purposes as well as for the general public. In order to develop a business center that will be utilized by institutions, Faculty of Biology UGM held "Workshop of Faculty Business Center Management" from Monday-Tuesday, 2 to 3 July and the "Workshop on Entrepreneurship and Marketing Management" on Thursday, 5 July in the Lower Meeting Room, Faculty of Biology UGM.
The workshop, which is part of the I-MHERE Project sub-activity 3.1.8 III presented speakers Rizal Djafarer, a florist from Lembang, Ir. Joko As’ad, Marketing Manager of PT. Ekakarya Graha Flora in Karawang, and Ir. Edi Suryanto, M.Sc., Ph.D., Vice Dean for Students, Alumni and Business Development, Faculty of Animal Sciences UGM.
"The workshop is expected to make Faculty of Biology more stable in the field of education services, able to disseminate research results to the community," said Vice Dean for Student Affairs and Research, Dr. Endang Semiarti, M.S., M.Sc., on Thursday (5/7).
Meanwhile, in the workshop Rizal Djafarer said that the development of products which have advantage is a new concept in starting a business. Rizal said that in addition to product development, partnership and networking principles are also important for a business to grow and develop, especially for small businesses that start from the bottom.
He added the use of the showroom is also very important to introduce to users about products that have been developed through an interesting and unique display as a means of socialization. In terms of production, management is important to make a quality plan and production design so that the products remain good and appropriate with market segmentation.
"The thing to remember is the market segmentation so that quality product should always be maintained," Rizal explained.
