In the Multimedia Room, Monday (30/1), the American Indonesian Exchange Foundation (AMINEF) hosted a presentation of study opportunities in the United States. Through Fulbright scholarship scheme, AMINEF offer various scholarships for faculty staff and students at UGM. Theresia Andriani, Program Assistant of AMINEF, explained that up to this time Fulbright alumni have reached 200,000. They come from 150 countries around the world. "Every year there is always Fulbright scholarship receipients, grantees from UGM," she said.
According to Teresa, the number of Fulbright scholarships offered in 2012 is increased. The increase indicates earnest and comprehensive efforts of the U.S. government and Indonesia in the field of education. "This is an implementation of the comprehensive partnership effort between the United States and Indonesia in the fields of education, as promoted by President Obama during his visit to Indonesia some time ago," she said.
In the presence of 70 participants who attended the event, it was stated that the scholarship programs offered include the S-2 program through the Fulbright Master’s Degree Program scheme, Fulbright Freeport Master’s Degree Program, also Fulbright Master of Science and Technology Initiative Degree Program. S-3 program is offered through the scheme of the Fulbright Presidential Scholarship Program, while research and training programs are also offered through the scheme of Fulbright Doctoral Dissertation Research Program and the Fulbright Higher Education (DIKTI) Senior Research Program. In addition to these programs, there are some other programs, namely the Community College Initiative Program, the Hubert Humphrey Fellowship Program for Mid-Career Professionals, ILEP (International Leadership in Education Program), the Global Undergraduate Exchange Program, as well as the Fulbright Foreign Language Indonesian Teaching Assistant ( FLIA).
At the end of the presentation, Theresia informed participants that the latest Fulbright scholarship program is Fulbright-DIKTI Senior Research, a program that allows the S-3 graduates to participate in a 10-week program in the United States. "I hope many doctoral graduates are interested to participate in this program.
