Indonesia has the potential both as a user and the performer to put its position in world economies. This is proved by some media articles which put Indonesia as the second largest user of social networking and the four largest for Twitter media. Although it is not yet supported by scientific research, dynamic economies in Indonesia and the development of users, infrastructure, media and information technology is believed to have role and contribution, which then led to the term Cloud-nomics.
Cloud-nomics which is triggered and shown by several aforementioned market milestones happened because the services providers utilize cloud technology as the backbone of service implementation. Cloud technology enables service providers to utilize external resources to support the desired success of businesses.
The cloud technology potential in Indonesia shall not be underestimated. The last few years show the increasingly vigorous and emerging of local start-up that offers service based on this cloud technology. Some companies take the chance to utilize the services offered though it is still being tested and give confidence to the benefit toward the core business.

The research of cloud-based business services potential in Indonesia is focusing on mapping and making inventories of services that can be presented to be used by companies and organizations. The research carried out by performing the process of observation, identification of the available cloud technology-based services, analyzing core business process, mapping of business processes that can be supported by a cloud-based services technology, and provide crucial parameters of each service.
This was discussed at the bi-weekly scientific studies discussion conducted by the UGM PPTIK Center for Social Informatics Studies (PUKIS). The material was delivered by Mardhani Riasetiawan SE Ak, MT researchers from PUKIS of PPTIK and CEO of Intelligence Technology Initiatives, a technology research institute in Yogyakarta. The discussion was very interesting with contributive questions and discussion from participants that last for 2 hours. PUKIS planned to bring on materials about social informatics for further discussion.
