The announcement of general winners of national contest becomes the closing event of the series of Product Innovation Exhibition that takes place at Grha Sabha Pramana, Saturday afternoon (15/10). The rabbit contest which followed by 100 participants from various regions, including Sumatra, Java, and Borneo was quite lively. Six categories are competed, namely Dutch, rex, flamish giant, English angora, netherland dwarfs, fuzzy loops, and holland lop.
Rabbit from Lembang, West Java, named Torty, eventually became the general champion in the contest this time. Rabbit owner, Danny, is entitled to a trophy from GPBH Prabukusumo and money prize. The trophy was delivered by the Rector, Prof. Ir. Sudjarwadi, M.Eng., Ph.D. The winners of other competitions were also announced for competitions that have been conducted before, such as the best booth, essay competition, and MSMEs competition.
Chairman of the Institute for Research and Community Service (LPPM), Prof. Dr. Ir. Danang Parikesit, M.Sc., in his report says the Research Week 2011 activities was visited by more than 55 thousand visitors. "This amount exceeded the target we had set," he said.
He said the research result and product innovation exhibition activities is aimed to get the UGM closer to the community through research results generated by its researchers. Especially for this year, Research Week activities invited 48 student activities units (UKM) and local government partners. "That is encouraging, through the Gelanggang Expo activities this time, UKM managed to recruit 7200 new members," he said.
UGM Rector, Prof. Ir. Sudjarwadi, M. Eng., Ph.D., in his speech during the closing of the product innovation exhibition expressed his appreciation for the committee’s hard work for the success of the event. Although it is an annual activity, this year activity is quite successful.
