To improve the quality of skills of diploma programs graduates, UGM Vocational School cooperates with PT Sanyo Electronics Indonesia to expand cooperation in the development of electronic repair shop in the Electrical Engineering Diploma Program. This was mentioned in the signing of a memorandum of understanding by the acting Director of UGM Vocational School, Prof. Dr. Ir. Fatchan Nurrochmad, M. Agr., and Director of PT Sanyo Indonesia Electronics, Yoshikiyo Mori Kawa, in the conference room of Vocational School on Tuesday (7/6) afternoon.
Fatchan Nurrochmad said the cooperation with PT Sanyo Electronics aims to increase knowledge and skills for UGM Vocational School students. Besides through the electronic workshop, students have the opportunity to do internship at PT Sanyo for 2 months. "The Vocational School has 22 programs; one of the programs is electrical engineering. Before completing studies, students have the opportunity for internship at the company for at least two months," he said.
He added that the signing of cooperation is a continuation of previous collaboration ending in October 2010. "We are quite pleased this cooperation is able to continue," he said.
Yoshikiyo Mori Kawa said the cooperation with UGM Vocational Schools is part of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). One of them is strengthening cooperation of the Japanese company with educational institution in Indonesia. "Our company has many employees graduating from UGM that we consider as important part of this company. The cooperation aims to avoid any gap between industry and educational institutions so that the equipment and training are fully utilized to make students ready to work,” he said.
In addition to strengthening cooperation with educational institutions, CSR activities that will be conducted this year is to introduce the company’s television technology among elementary school students and various environmental activities.
