After four times of organizations, UGM Center for Pancasila Studies again holds National Meeting of Pancasila in 2011. By inviting the Indonesian Constitutional Court, the meeting this time raised the theme Implementing Pancasila Values in Maintaining Constitutionality in Indonesia.
According to Prof. Dr. Sutaryo, Sp.A (K), the committee deliberately raised that theme because Indonesia needs to restructure the law to respond to future challenges. Apart from the various opinions related to the four amendments to the Constitution, historical fact shows that the amendment has brought fundamental changes to the system of state administration. One of the changes is the presence of the Constitutional Court as a high state institution bringing task of maintaining the constitutionality of state administration and political life in Indonesia.
He said that currently, signal appears on academic debate and process of higher education which seldom study in depth of law ideals in philosophy of law studies. Therefore, the revitalization of Pancasila as the ideal of law is urgent not just as discourse, but should be implemented. Departing from the concern, the theme of this meeting is expected to form normative-ideal dimensions of constitutional enforcement in Indonesia with practical dimension that determines the dynamics of constitutional life.
Pancasila is the final ideology of the Indonesian nation. If in the last time several parties still dispute it, it is considered as a futile effort. As an independent nation, Indonesia is filled with building prosperity. "By re-disputing ideology, we are like going back in year 1955 and 1958," Sutaryo said.
Heri Santoso, M. Hum., representing committee of the meeting, expressed that participant’s interest increases than four previous gatherings. Of the target 500 participants, up to now it has 600 participants who have registered. They come from various circles and the number of young people’s participation has increased significantly. "Hopefully, it’s a good sign, the emergence of new consciousness among the youth," Heri said.
