Faculty of Geography Universitas Gadjah Mada is currently pioneering the establishment of the study park around Faculty of Geography. The study park is aimed to facilitate outdoor learning for university students and students in primary and secondary schools. This was revealed by the Dean of the Faculty of Geography, Prof. Dr. Suratman, M.Sc., to reporters after opening the Earth Day celebration at the Faculty on Thursday (21/4).
Suratman said that his office will build some venues, such as water garden, rock garden, and soil garden for the field study. "We hope that with the Study Park on the campus, students can directly recognize and learn closer to their object of study," he explained.
Suratman added that the study park establishment is part of efforts to develop education tourism in the Faculty of Geography and UGM. "This step is one way to develop edutourism at the UGM campus. As is known, UGM is now one of the tourist destinations in the interest of students. Almost every month UGM receives visits from various high schools in Indonesia," he explained.
As reported earlier, every year there are at least about 130 high schools conduct educational tours on the campus of UGM. The students visit the faculties at UGM for the socialization of learning atmosphere on campus.
