YOGYAKARTA – As many as ten students, Monday (11/4), signed a MoU of execution of Education for Sustainable Development (EfSD) research Indonesian program Managing Higher Education for Relevance and Efficiency (I-MHERE) Faculty of Biology, Universitas Gadjah Mada. From the graduate students, five people are from Faculty of Biology and the rest are students of UGM Graduate School.
The signing of MoU was conducted in the Lower Meeting Room of Faculty of Biology. Attending the event were Dean of Faculty of Biology, Dr. Retno Peni Sancayaningsih, M.Sc., Vice Dean for Student Affairs and Research, Dr. Endang Semiarti, and PIC Activity 3.1.1 I-MHERE Faculty of Biology, Slamet Widiyanto, S. Si, M.Sc.
Slamet said that Faculty of Biology since 2006 had focused on developing EfSD programs in several villages, ie, Beji, Ngawen, and Kemadang, Tanjungsari, Gunung Kidul. Various steps of EfSD program have been carried out, among others sending students of KKN-PPM to community assistance by experts and researchers in the development of agricultural sector. "Besides, many studies are conducted to provide assistance and knowledge to the public about sustainable environmental management from various aspects," Slamet said.
Meanwhile, PIC of I-MHERE as well as Dean of Faculty of Biology, Dr. Retno Peni Sancayaningsih, M.Sc., said that grant-winning research proposal is a reference to what is done and promised by the researchers, so research cannot be separated from EfSD based research proposals that have been proposed.
In future, Peni hoped for researchers to involve students of S-1 Faculty of Biology. She also reminded that the memorandum of agreement binds the implementation of research. Therefore, it needs to consider about the title, deadline, and community involvement at the time of monitoring and evaluation in the field. "As part of the three responsibilities of Higher Education, the implementation and sustainability of the program in the community need to be thought," Peni said.
After an explanation from the Dean and PIC, the event was continued with the reading of each article of the memorandum. After that, the signing conducted by the recipient of research grant.
