As a University supporting unit, LPPT UGM, again, made an achievement in the implementation of a reliable research. It received accreditation of ISO 17025: 2005 for Calibration Laboratory from the National Accreditation Committee (KAN). The accreditation is effective as of February 18, 2009 with the scope of the mass calibration, lab code number LK-135.
Dr. Harsojo, M. Sc, Head of LPPT UGM, said that the acquisition of accreditation for calibration laboratory is one of advanced targets after the accreditation of testing laboratory. "This achievement is a continuation of LPPT experience in applying and implementing the ISO 17025:2005 management system for testing laboratory to become an accredited testing laboratory in 2007," he said in LPPT UGM, Wednesday (2/3).
With calibration laboratory accreditation status, the competence of mass calibration of LPPT UGM is international class. This accreditation will make measuring tools calibrated by LPPT will have the certainty on their performance status, such as the measuring scale correction. "Therefore, the correct measuring devices are expected to produce valid data from laboratories in UGM, so the research data and lab work which are generated are valid, too." Therefore it is not doubtful if published up to the international level,” said Harsojo.
