UGM received a Qurbani animal donation in the form of a cow from Bank Syariah Indonesia (BSI) on Thursday (Jun. 13). The signing of a memorandum of understanding by the Vice-Rector for Human Resources and Finance, Professor Supriyadi, and Budi Abdiriva, the Area Manager of Bank Syariah Indonesia Yogyakarta, marked the handover.
The event, held at the UGM Central Office, was also attended by the University Secretary, Dr. Andi Sandi Antonius Tabusassa Tonralipu, the Head of the UGM Campus Mosque, Dr. Rizal Mustansyir, and the Branch Manager of KCP Yogyakarta UGM, Cita Nareswari.
Abdiriva expressed his gratitude for the cooperation, attention, and support provided, enabling BSI to offer the best services to all stakeholders at UGM.
“Alhamdulillah, thanks to the established collaboration, the central office management entrusted us with handing over a Qurbani animal donation, a cow, to be utilized in the UGM environment,” he said.
Abdiriva hoped the Qurbani animal donation would benefit the residents around UGM and the students on campus. He promised to continue ensuring BSI can always contribute to the community’s welfare.
“May the cooperation between BSI and UGM improve and continue in the future,” he concluded.
Professor Supriyadi, representing UGM, welcomed BSI’s efforts.
“This Qurbani animal will certainly be beneficial for the community. The slaughtering is planned for Tuesday morning (Jun. 18) at the Campus Mosque, and the meat will be distributed directly to the eligible residents around the campus. Hopefully, the meat distributed through UGM will bring blessings to both parties,” the vice-rector said.
He also mentioned the mutual support between the two institutions.
“Indonesia’s majority Muslim population greatly benefits from the banking facilities provided by BSI, and we are also designing several programs, one of which is housing ownership for lecturers and staff,” he explained.
He added that an apartment provided for UGM’s community members is limited to three years. After that, lecturers and staff need to consider having their own house.
“For this housing program, we plan to involve BSI so that all community members can have decent housing,” he concluded.
