Hundreds of new UGM Faculty of Animal Science (Animal Science UGM) students participated in a farm and laboratory exploration. They appeared enthusiastic throughout the activity.
These students were introduced to the laboratories’ facilities and primary functions and visited the barns and green pastures used for dairy cows and goats.
“We divided the students into eight groups, and they took turns visiting the laboratories and livestock barns,” explained Pioneer Rancher 2024 Coordinator Dr. Tian Jihadhan Wankar, Thursday (Aug. 1).
Bagas Ardani, one of the new students, expressed his excitement about the farm and laboratory exploration. He found the activity helpful in familiarizing himself with the facilities at Fapet UGM.
“The event was engaging, so we were enthusiastic about exploring the farm,” said Ardani.
Another new student, Kanina Indi, shared similar sentiments. She found the exploration enjoyable and helpful in understanding the facilities she would use during her studies.
“It’s beneficial as a new student. We won’t be surprised when we start our classes,” said Indi.
On the final day of Pioneer Rancher 2024, students were also introduced to the library and semi-autonomous bodies at Fapet. The event, themed “Transforming Young Rancher: Cultivate Potential, Build Collaboration, Weave Dreams, Achieve Success,” also emphasized environmental awareness, particularly in reducing waste.
“To reduce food waste, we provided reusable lunch containers,” explained the Head of the faculty’s Administration Office, Nurma Diani Sekarsih.
