Over 1,000 participants participated in the Family Fun Walk organized by the UGM Staff Corps (Korpagama) on Sunday (Oct. 27) at the Balairung, UGM Central Office.
The walk was held to commemorate Korpagama’s 19th anniversary and UGM’s 75th anniversary. Before the walk, participants joined a group exercise session in the courtyard of Balairung UGM.
Dr. Arie Sujito, Chairman of the UGM 75th Anniversary Committee, welcomed the fun walk organized by Korpagama. Dr. Sujito mentioned that UGM always encourages its members to foster a spirit of creativity, work, and collaboration.
The entire UGM academic community is expected to continue to improve and provide mutual support.
“This morning’s event is also intended to foster togetherness, to instill values of being healthy together, empowered together, and prosperous together,” explained the Vice-Rector for Student Affairs, Community Service, and Alumni.
Dr. Sujito emphasized that Korpagama has always been a driving force for staff and faculty participation within UGM.
Therefore, on the 19th anniversary of Korpagama and the 75th anniversary of UGM, Dr. Sujito encouraged the UGM academic community to care for the environment and maintain cleanliness.
He emphasized the importance of proper waste management as part of the moral responsibility to maintain a healthy environment.
“Physical and mental health is the goal. I think students need guidance to become leaders in healthy living,” he added.
Professor Achmadi Priyatmojo, Chair of Korpagama, added that the family fun walk is one of Korpagama’s routine activities.
This event was held to encourage the UGM community to come together and maintain good health.
“Hopefully, we can all get to know each other better. Korpagama is now 19 years old, having been established on Oct. 20, 2005, when it transitioned from Korpri to Korpagama. Since then, we have always celebrated Korpagama’s anniversary,” he explained.
Professor Priyatmojo mentioned that Korpagama’s vision is to improve staff welfare within the UGM environment.
Several regular programs have been implemented each month, including meetings and giving awards or tokens of appreciation to retirees.
“Every month, we give tokens of appreciation to 30-40 UGM faculty or staff who are retiring, and along with this fun walk, we provided 25 tokens of appreciation to retiring faculty and staff,” he added.
Dr. Asikin Nur, the committee chair, explained that 1,000 participants, including active and retired faculty and staff and their families, took part in the 1.5 km walk around the UGM campus.
“This walk commemorates the 19th anniversary of Korpagama and the 75th anniversary of UGM. We provided door prizes such as refrigerators, washing machines, TVs, 27 bicycles, and 87 other gift packages. We hope all participants are healthy, happy, and joyful,” he added.
