Dean of the Faculty of Biology, Universitas Gadjah Mada (Biology UGM), Professor Budi Setiadi Daryono, inaugurated the development and management of a new Coworking Space located at the North Hallway of Building B, Biology UGM, on Friday (Aug. 22).
The coworking space is designed to provide a collaborative area for the academic community, support 21st-century learning based on 4C skills, create an eco-friendly and green space, and integrate sustainability missions and the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into the faculty’s spatial management.
Dean Daryono stated that the establishment of this Coworking Space is expected to further encourage students to study and engage in discussions.
“Let us take care of this shared asset and make full use of it to better support students in their studies,” he said.
In addition to the coworking space, Dean Daryono mentioned that Biology UGM has already provided other supporting facilities, including Biomart as a minimarket, Café Bioshub, and Jasmine Corner Canteen, the profits of which are even reinvested to assist students through free breakfast programs.
Vice-Dean for Finance, Assets, and Human Resources, Dr. Slamet Widiyanto, expressed hope that the coworking space will become one of the new icons for learning, collaboration, and innovation on campus.
“This space is not merely a place to study, but also a hub that fosters togetherness, nurtures creativity, and demonstrates our commitment to sustainability,” he said.
