Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) has become the only university to receive an award in the SPS Media Relations Award (MRA) 2025, under the subcategory Best Media Relations Program. The award ceremony took place during the 79th Anniversary of Serikat Perusahaan Pers (SPS) at Anjong Mon Mata, Banda Aceh, on Monday (Oct. 20).
For the first time, UGM earned the Bronze Winner title with its entry “UGM’s Contribution to Indonesia”. The award was received on behalf of UGM by Astri Wulandari, the media relations officer.
The University Secretary, Dr. Andi Sandi Antonius Tabusassa Tonralipu, extended his congratulations to the UGM Public Relations and News Team for this prestigious recognition by SPS.
“I would like to congratulate the news team, which has maintained strong relations with media partners through the Fortakgama network,” said Dr. Tonralipu on Wednesday (Oct. 22) at UGM.
According to Dr. Tonralipu, passing the rigorous selection process and earning this award was not an easy task, as the entries were carefully reviewed by judges from the press and other professional fields.
“This award will further motivate our colleagues in Public Relations and News to design even better and more engaging media relations programs to achieve greater results,” he added.

With the theme “Progressive Press, Advancing Indonesia’s Resources,” SPS presented a series of awards to companies, institutions, and media organizations (both local and national) through three categories: Media Relations Awards, Media Brand Awards, and Citra Karsa 2025.
In his remarks, Januar Primadi Ruswita, Chairperson of the SPS Central Executive Board, expressed hope that this recognition would inspire the press industry to unite and strengthen its role in advancing Indonesian journalism.
“Aceh was chosen as the venue for this anniversary celebration because this region, known as the Veranda of Mecca, holds an enduring legacy of struggle and Islamic civilization that continues to inspire. This spirit drives the press community to remain united for the revival of the nation’s media. That is why the theme ‘Progressive Press, Advancing Indonesia’s Resources’ embodies the essence of SPS’s 79th anniversary,” he stated.
The SPS Awards consist of six categories: Media Relations Award, Media Brand Award, Citra Karsa Award, Prerana Award, Lontar Award, and Lestari Award. Each year, this prestigious event recognizes universities, state-owned enterprises, and private companies across Indonesia for their contributions to the press and media ecosystem.
