Good news from Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM)’s Office of Public Relations, News, and Protocol: it has received the Gold Winner award at the 2025 Diktisaintek Protocol Awards. UGM Protocol Team wins in the State Universities with Legal Entity Status (PTN-BH) category, with the award presented at Graha Diktisaintek, Jakarta, on Friday (Dec. 19).
Haryanto, Head of the UGM Protocol Team, expressed his gratitude for the award as recognition of the dedication of the UGM protocol team in implementing protocol management in accordance with government-established rules, norms, standards, and procedures.
“This award serves as motivation for UGM Protocol to continue improving its services and innovating so that protocol implementation at UGM, either at the university, faculty/school, and unit levels, can become even more optimal,” he said on Tuesday (Dec. 30).
According to Haryanto, who is also known as Jack, the smooth execution of protocol-related activities at UGM is the result of strong collaboration among protocol teams at the university, faculty, school, and unit levels that have consistently implemented protocol regulations properly.
“I believe coordination among protocol units within UGM has been running very well, especially since each faculty and school already has its own protocol team,” he explained.
He further noted that over the past year, UGM Protocol has worked diligently through all stages of the competition process for the Diktisaintek Protocol Awards in the field of protocol management. The achievement, he said, represents the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology’s appreciation of UGM’s protocol practices.
Haryanto outlined several innovations and service improvements carried out by the UGM Protocol Team, including coordinating protocol teams at the faculty, school, and unit levels. It also highlights their role in organizing events and protocol arrangements, as well as ensuring that all events are conducted properly, smoothly, and in accordance with protocol principles.
Haryanto emphasized that the implementation of ceremonial events and protocol is not solely the responsibility of the university protocol team, but also of protocol teams at the faculty, school, and unit levels, particularly in matters of seating arrangements, ceremonial procedures, and honor protocols that protocol officers must well understand at every event.

He also explained that UGM has Rector’s Regulation Number 10 of 2015 on Events and Protocol, which serves as an implementation of Law Number 9 of 2010 on Protocol. In addition, these regulations are aligned with the Minister of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology Regulation Number 42 of 2022 concerning protocol within the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology.
Furthermore, Haryanto stated that UGM Protocol continues to innovate in carrying out its duties without departing from existing regulations. Equally important, he added, is the strong support from the University leadership, which has been instrumental in ensuring that protocol implementation across UGM complies with applicable rules.
Haryanto expressed hope that UGM Protocol will continue to maintain and improve its performance to retain the Gold ranking at the Diktisaintek Protocol Awards in the coming years. Going forward, his team plans to strengthen protocol management innovation through continuous training in Protocol Management, Master of Ceremonies (MC) skills, and Public Speaking, which together form an integrated package for organizing ceremonial events and protocol activities.
To maintain the quality of protocol performance across units and faculties, UGM’s Office of Public Relations, News, and Protocol organizes Inter-Unit Protocol Competitions and MC Competitions at UGM. Through these competitions, each unit is expected to prepare its protocol team as effectively as possible, while also providing evaluation and appreciation for participating teams.
“In this way, protocol officers and MCs in each unit can further enhance their performance,” he concluded.
