Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) has once again become one of Indonesia’s most sought-after public universities in the 2026 National Test-Based Selection (SNBT). In 2026, a total of 84,637 applicants applied to various study programs at UGM through the SNBT pathway. UGM Vice Rector for Education and Teaching, Professor Wening Udasmoro, stated that the high number of applicants reflects public trust in the quality of UGM’s education.
“Interest among prospective students in pursuing their studies at UGM remains very high. This motivates us to continue maintaining the quality of education, academic services, and inclusive access to education,” said Professor Wening Udasmoro on Monday (May. 25) at UGM.
Professor Wening added that for the 2026/2027 academic year, UGM offers three main admission pathways, namely the National Achievement-Based Selection (SNBP), the National Test-Based Selection (SNBT), and the Independent Admission pathway. The university provides a total admission quota of 9,403 new students for regular programs, while the International Undergraduate Program (IUP) offers a quota of 1,301 students.
Through the SNBT pathway, UGM admitted 2,857 prospective students. In terms of study program interest distribution, the Vocational College (SV UGM) had the highest number of applicants, with 21,730 participants. It was followed by the Faculty of Engineering (FT UGM) with 10,702 applicants and the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (Fisipol UGM) with 5,463 applicants. According to Professor Udasmoro, these figures demonstrate the dynamic interests of prospective students in UGM study programs.
In addition to the national admission pathways, UGM also provides the Independent Admission pathway as part of its effort to expand access to higher education. This pathway may serve as an alternative for prospective students who were not admitted through SNBT. The total quota for Independent Admission accounts for 40 percent of the university’s overall new student intake capacity.
“Through the Independent Admission pathway, UGM will admit approximately 3,729 prospective students,” Professor Wening explained.
Professor Wening urged the public to access official information regarding the new student admission process only through UGM’s official website at admissions.ugm.ac.id. She also advised the public to remain vigilant against fraudulent schemes promising admission to UGM in exchange for payment.
“I urge the public not to easily trust parties claiming to represent UGM and offering guaranteed admission through certain pathways,” she emphasized.
