The Board of Professors (hereafter referred to as the Indonesian acronym DGB) is an organ of the university that acts as an advisor, guardian of the moral and ethical integrity of the academic community, and develops ideas and views related to strategic national and/or international issues to support UGM’s role and contribution to the welfare of the nation and humanity.

The duties of the DGB, based on the Decree of the Board of Trustees of Universitas Gadjah Mada No. 1 of 2016 on the Board of Professors of Universitas Gadjah Mada, are:

• Develop thoughts or views and provide input to university organs regarding the strategic issues faced by the nation and the country and their solutions;
• Present thoughts or views to university organs related to the development of science;
• Be a pioneer in developing and instilling national insight in the academic community and society;
• Be a pioneer in maintaining the moral and ethical integrity of the university’s academic community;
• Be a pioneer in preserving and developing the values of Universitas Gadjah Mada and their implementation; and
• Provide recommendations for the awarding of the UGM Award and the Hamengku Buwono IX Award to the Rector.
