The prosperity of modern societies is partially based on the significant achievements of Chemistry. Progress in this discipline enables innovations in medicine, agriculture, energy, and in almost all manufacturing sectors of industry and materials for everyday use. With it, chemistry contributes to the improvement of the quality of life of people.
The Chemistry Department, which is nationally leading and internationally recognized in education, research, and community services has the responsibility to prepare qualified graduates having excellent knowledge and skills in Chemistry, a capability to manage international collaboration and competition, as well as motivation to achieve the prosperity of society.
Chemistry is a universal science. The study program has been accredited by Royal Society of Chemistry and National Accreditation Board of Higher Education (BAN-PT). This has proven that the excellence of our educational outputs and research findings are recognized internationally and nationally. These advantages are supported by adequate research facilities in our laboratories.
The courses taught in our study program cover the basic properties of matter and its changes along with the energy that accompanies the changes. Material changes are intended to produce compounds that are beneficial to human life.
Our graduates are able to pursue careers in research institutions (such as LIPI, BATAN, and LEMIGAS), as educators (as lecturers and school teachers), in industries (such as cement, medicine, oil, and gas), and government institutions such as regional governments and ministries.
Our study program has extensive research equipment including FTIR spectrophotometer, UV-Vis spectrophotometer, Specular Reflectance UV-Vis Spectrophotometer, Bomb-Calorimeter, Atomic absorption spectrophotometer, Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometer, Liquid Chromatography and High-Performance Liquid Chromatography, X-ray diffraction machines, Transmission Electron Microscopy, Liquid Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry/Mass Spectrometry High-Resolution Mass Spectrometer, H-NMR and C-NMR 500 MHz, Scanning Electron Microscopy with EDS, and ICP-AES.
