Up to 70 students of Universitas Gadjah Mada have the opportunity to get mentoring for 3 – 6 months in order to be able to build technology-based business through the second batch of Innovative Academy UGM programme, run in collaboration with Kibar that encourages students in entrepreneurship as well as gives tips and tricks.
UGM Director for Business and Incubation, Dr. Hargo Utomo, M.B.A., said UGM encourages the spirit of entepreneurship among students.
“UGM encourages enterpreneurs that have social and environment awareness whilst having the passion to develop their business, not only becoming capitalistic businessmen,” he said when opening the mentoring programme in UC UGM.
Hargo congratulated the 70 students who had passed the programme selection, hoping that they would be well-informed and well-equipped to become the next leaders.
Vice-Rector for Cooperation and Alumni, Dr. Paripurna P. Sugarda, S.H.,L.LM., said the Innovative Academy programme was an effort to break consumerism mindset that is still found in many Indonesian students, unlike their counterparts in Japan.
“The Innovative Academy programme is trying to break the consumerism habit to be able to produce something to meet the need of consumers, even to create new needs,” he said.
He saw it fit for UGM to brand itself as a social entrepreneur university that orientes towards social benefits. It is expected that UGM can initiate changing consumerism to innovative and productive habit.
Chief Excecutive of PT. Kibar Kreasi Indonesia, Yansen Kamto, also attendend the event.
