The 8th National Information Technology and Communication Student Event (GEMASTIK 8) will resume in 2015 with UGM being appointed as host. The theme of the event is Creativity and Innovation of the Youths Towards Independent Society.
“UGM is honoured to be appointed twice as host of GEMASTIK 8 by the Research and Community Service Directorate in the Research, Technology, and Higher Learning Ministry,” said UGM Student Affairs Director, Dr. Drs. Senawi, M.P, on Monday (26/10).
“This is the programme of Directorate of Research and Community Service of the Research, Technology and Higher Learning Ministry,” said Senawi, adding that the competition was aimed at improving the quality of the young generation as agent of change in advancing ICT and its applications in the country.
Senawi revealed good command of ICT was very important to support the unity of the state. Therefore, students as future state leaders need to pay attention to the event. So far, as many as 3,087 teams from 166 universities have registered for the event.
“After a rigorous selection, eventually some 101 teams from 27 universities became finalists,” he said,
There will be side events, too, such as a seminar with resource persons from Microsoft Indonesia on 27 October 2015, and seminars with resource persons from Kibar, Intel, Gamatechno, and Tokopedia on 28 October 2015.
