Many animated games and applications are displayed at the 8th National Information Technology and Communication Student Event (Gemastik 8) in Grha Sabha Pramana hall, Universitas Gadjah Mada, on Wednesday (28/10). As many as 101 teams from 27 universities participated there.
In the game app development, participants include a team from STMIK Swadharma Jakarta that had developed a 3D game app named as Epic of Java, based on the old story of Mahabharata. Andri, team member, said they made the game in six months using unity 3D, 3D Max from Microsoft. He said the difficulty in making the game was the design of the characters and the structure of the building. Their supervisor, Ir. Indra Hiswara, MM, said the students made the game entirely with the university facilitated programme app in order to produce game app. “The university happens to have such application to help them make the game,” he said.
Another team from Politeknik Negeri Jakarta called their 3D game application Armand Pengamen Jalanan. The game tells the story of a 10-year old child that helps his sick mother by collectiong three millions in five days. Three options are given to Armand to get the money: becoming thrash collector, fruit seller, or singing on the street. The game using open source programme, according to its maker, Raja Nada, is to be launched and played for free. “We will give all the file sources in order that people can learn for free how to make a game,” he concluded.
