Gadjah Mada Chamber Orchestra (GMCO) is back by holding its annual grand concert entitled The Story of Our Life which is about a person’s early love life until they finally parted. This biggest concert by GMCO was held on Saturday (11/14), at Grha Sabha Pramana (GSP) Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM).
In this occasion, GMCO presented 14 repertoires in front of 1,300 audiences. It collaborated with well-known Indonesian singer of classical songs, Putri Ayu. The concert that was sponsored by BNI Bank aimed to introduce GMCO to wider audience. Even though UGM does not offer music courses, GMCO is present as a way to facilitate the student’s passion of music and contributes to increase people’s appreciation toward orchestra music in Indonesia.
GMCO is fully supported by UGM through its Student Affairs Directorate. BNI Bank as a sponsor also trust GMCO to hold its annual concerts in the last three years. GMCO is expected to keep presenting a high-quality music entertainment, giving experience through grand concerts and providing organizational experience for its members.
GMCO is one of Student Activity Units on Music Department, specializing in Orchestra. It has reached the age of 7 this year. Despite its young age, GMCO has attracted people’s attention by its annual concert, such as Mini Concert, Home Concert, Recital, and Grand Concert.
The concert is always eagerly awaited by the community, proved by sold out tickets every year. GMCO has collaborated with a number of well-known musicians, such as Singgih Sanjaya, Anggito Abimanyu, Addie MS, Lea Simanjuntak, Marcell, Eduardo Tami (Argentine), and other famous artists.
