Student Executive Unit of Universitas Gadjah Mada held an event entitled “Aku dan Kampus Bulaksumur 49”, on Saturday (11/28) at Ghra Sabha Pramana Hall. There were 3 major agendas such as photography competition, call of paper, and national seminar.
According to Dion Ferdian Rizaldi, head of advocation department, this event aimed to build understanding to the students about their own university in the deeper level.
“As a student of UGM, it’s not just about going to classes and exams, but we have to understand the deeper value of our own university. Students must contribute for better UGM,” Dion said, Saturday (11/28)
The photography competition entitled UGM’s Black and White Construction aims to spread awareness about the development taking place at UGM. Besides, the call for paper also has a purpose to create creativity of the students on the development and establishment of future UGM.
“We hope in the year of 2049, when UGM will be 100 years of age, the goals of UGM will be achieved by no other but the the students,” he said.
Rector of UGM, Prof. Ir. Dwikorita Karnawati, M.Sc., Ph.D, at the same event gave a lecture titled The Establishment of Global Vision of Human Resources. The reason behind the lecture was because she realized sooner or later, the students will face international competition from countries such as Vietnam, Malaysia, and Thailand.
“The young generation has to prepare themselves as strong fighters. Become a fighter doesn’t mean we are looking for enemies but we have to be ready,” Dwikorita explained.
One of the best ways to prepare ourselves is by upgrading ourselves starting from now on. According to the Rector, in 2030 Indonesia will have a potential to become one of the seven biggest countries in economy.
“Indonesia has that potential, but succeed or not depends on the young. We have to prepare the young to become more optimistic to face ASEAN Economic Community and Global competition. (Adelily)
