The ambassador of Republic of Indonesia to Egypt, Dr. Nurfaizi Suwandi, said that Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) used the chaotic situation in certain countries as their main target to be seized. Some of Middle East and North African countries are now their main target. Even though the estimated force of ISIS is just 30 to 40 thousands people, they have not yet been defeated by the coalition of US and Russian Governments. “Many countries are attacking them, but they have not yet been defeated, it was supposed to take three days at the longest to take them with full forces. Is this because they (ISIS) is already spread or this situation is arranged?” Faizi said during a public lecture at Post Graduate School UGM, Friday (12/03)

Nurfaizi said that ISIS came from the separation of Al Qaida in Iraq, but according to Nurfaizi, the area of ISIS is as big as Jordan. The ISIS’s act to spread a video that showed the beheading of their hostages raised hatred for ISIS, it also impacted the public perception of Islam. He added that the existence of ISIS is part of conspiracy to separate Middle East countries or to sustain the trade of weapons. He also said that Indonesian Moslems need not believe the doctrine of the outside group, especially from the Middle East countries because the situation in the Middle East is at uproar. There are three superpowers political parties that have different ambition and are against each other, they are Shi'ite motored by Iran, Iraq, Syria and Lebanon, Muslim Brotherhood motored by Qatar and Turkey, and Sunni motored by Saudi Arabia and other monarchy countries, such as Kuwait and United Arab Emirates. “The fight between three powers and ideology-background issues became the start of reinforced jihadi groups in the entire region of the Middle East,” he added.
