The information center and career development, Universitas Gadjah Mada's Engineering Career Center (ECC), Faculty of Engineering, held a jobfair “Career Days” from 27-28 February 2016 at Grha Sabha Pramana hall. The 19th exhibition was attended by 60 companies and thousands of job seekers.

"From the number of visitors who have signed up online there are nine thousand visitors, but based on the experience of previous years, visitors who actually attended the event have tripled of the number of online registrants. So, for this year we estimate to be about 27 thousand visitors," said Director of ECC, Nurhadi, ST, Saturday (27/2).

Career Days UGM is one of regular activities held by ECC UGM as an institution based on technology information platform for the field of career information, personal development, and recruitment service. Through Career Days, ECC facilitates companies that require a workforce with job seekers. Not only that, this events also means to measure their performance so far. These activities are also organized for the public, not only for UGM graduates, but other universities as well.

"Through Career Days UGM also wants to provide an opportunity for graduates from other universities so that they also have the opportunity to find a job. This is consistent with the philosophy of UGM as a water tower, not only in science but also in terms of usefulness," he explained.

The composition of corporate exhibitors this year is dominated by companies from four major sectors, namely banking and finance (20%), supply chain (19%), as well as information technology sector and infrastructure sector (16% respectively). Meanwhile, most job seekers are graduates in accounting, followed by graduates in mechanical engineering and information technology.

Nurhadi hopes through this event, ECC can establish a better relationship with the company or with job seekers. "I hope the company can make us a strategic partner, a talent solution for their needs. Thus, the company can come to us and explain as to what workforce they need. For job seekers, we also want to be a partner. They can come to us for consultation and we will give guidance on how to get a job that matches their interests," he added.
