MP UGM Raih Juara Umum Kejurlat MP se-DIY
The Merpati Putih (MP) UGM team has become overall champion in the competition between Merpati Putih pencak silat units across Yogyakarta. It was held at Universitas Islam Indonesia from 5-6 March 2016. The UGM team brought home 7 gold, 5 silver, and 2 bronze medals.
Team manager, Deby, said this competition was joined by 14 units, other teams are from UII, UPN, UAJY,STTA, BSI, MAYOGA, STEMBAYO, IST AKPRIND, STTNAS, POLTEK ATK, DWI PARI, BUMIJO, and SASONO HINGGIL. The categories to be competed include Fight, Art, Power, and Written categories.
“We sent up to 17 athletes to compete in all categories,” she said on Thursday (31/3).
Deby expressed her pride for the achievements. Previously, the UGM team has become overall winners for five times consecutively.
“This win cannot be apart from the fighting spirit and unified stance of all athletes, trainers, and the support from other members. Hopefully, this win can motivate us to keep making achievements in the future,” she said.
