Refly Harun: Mahasiswa Harus Mengembangkan Kualitas Diri

State law expert who is also commissioner of PT. Jasa Marga (Persero) Tbk., Dr. Refly Harun, S.H., M.H., LL.M., was a keynote speaker in the new students induction at Faculty of Law UGM on Wednesday (3/8). Refly Harun gave a public lecture themed Instilling Organic Intellectual Seeds in the Mind of Student that was joined by all new law students of 2016.

Refly Harun recounted the story when he was still a student at UGM. He said that learning academic subjects were indeed important, but the students also need to try to immerse themselves in other experiences. Refly who was chairman of law student executive body between 1991-1992 said students had to have many other activities apart from academic ones that are positive and can make them progressing.

“Don’t be a student that only comes for a lecture and then go home, but do other activities that make you better and progressing,” said Refly.

Refly further called on the new students to not only study towards having good grades, saying that grades are only numbers, but to develop their personal qualities.

“Don’t be a student that only orientates towards grades, be a student with good quality,” he said.

At the end of the course, Refly said that all human beings have limitations, but they don’t know where those are, so he asked the students to always work hard in achieving their goals. “Let’s not give up because of the limitation of our talents. If wanting something, do your best to meet that goal,” he said.
