Faculty of Geography UGM have agreed to form a collaboration with local village administration of Bugisan in Prambanan, Klaten regency to form a tourism village. The agreement was signed by Dean of the Faculty of Geography UGM, Prof. Dr. R. Rijanta, M.Sc., and Bugisan village chief, Heru Nugroho, at the Faculty on Friday (26/8).
Prof. Rijanta welcomed the collaboration, saying more can be done by his Faculty for society. With the collaboration, UGM hopes to be able to assist the Bugisan village to be an independent tourism village.
The village chief shared the same views. This collaboration is a step to achieve the dream to of having an independent tourism village as the area has potentials to meet that goal, for example Prambanan and Plaosan temples as well as traditional music and dance.
UGM Vice-Rector for Research and Community Service, Prof. Dr. Suratman, added to achieve the independent tourism village, many aspects have to be reviewed, such as branding, leadership, network, and promotion, also socioentrepreuneurship coaching for the local people.
