As many as 12 teams from Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) joining the Komunitas Mahasiswa TIK (Komatik) are ready to compete in the final of the 9th Student Information and Communication Technology Competition (Gemastik) at Universitas Indonesia in Jakarta from 27-29 October 2016.
UGM Head of Student Creativity Sub-directorate, Ahmad Agus Setiawan, S.T., M.Eng., Ph.D., said UGM would send 12 teams to the 9th Gemastik event with 35 students of Faculty of Engineering, Mathematics and Natural Sciences, and Vocational School who will compete in 6 event categories, which are data mining and ICT business development, user experience, e-government and programming, and software development.
“Obviously, we were very happy that we can send as many as 12 teams to Gemastik who will compete in 6 0f 10 categories,” he said on campus on Wednesday (26/10).
Gemastik is an annual national competition on ICT that is held by the the Ministry for Research, Technology, and Higher Learning. Other event categories are network safety, animation, smart gadget and embedded system.
The UGM team to go to the finals are Bloom (Data Mining), Go Winner, User Lab (User Experience), Ferari, Uopo As (E-Government), Anda, Berharap Juara (Programming), mBengkel (ICT Business Development), Rang-Rang, Snorlax, Vitamin B3, and Wamallazatu Illa Ba’da Ta’abi (software development).
Ahmad Agus said the 12 teams had been mentored routinely and sustainably. They were also given training that includes monitoring, evaluation, and boot camp. “We hope this year UGM could be the winner and bring home the Samyakbya-Padesa-Widya trophy,” he expressed his hope.
