Vice-Rector for Academic and Student Affairs, Prof. dr. Iwan Dwiprahasto, M.Med.Sc., Ph.D, in his remarks congratulated the graduates who have completed their undergraduate programme. “The graduation is the start to a long journey to continue your study or go to the work market. Your role is awaited by Indonesia in years to come,” said Prof Iwan at the inauguration ceremony in Grha Sabha Pramana Hall UGM on Wednesday (16/11).
He advised the graduates to be able to meet challenges in the future in terms of food, water, energy, population and IT development. “We would face those challenges sooner or later, but we have to be able to give solutions to those problems,” he said.
In his opinion not everyone can give solutions to problems because it requires the characters of being a role model, initiator, and leader that orientate towards meeting future challenges. “We have to be aware of the world developments, IT and human behaviour as our capital for living a better life,” he said.
Ninik Sundari, S.Pt, who represents the new graduates expressed her gratitude for having completed the studies well. She said this was made possible by the non-teaching staff, teaching staff and particularly support from their parents. “We the new graduates realise that this awaited event is the result of hard from from lecturers who have patiently educated us. We would also like to thank the non-teaching staff who have served and prepared all the supporting facilities so that we can finish our education well,” she said.
