Two UGM students were selected to attend Write to China programme which was held by Foreign Policy Community of Indonesia (FPCI), collaborating with Embassy of China for Indonesia. They were Albert Au (International Relations Department) and Aditria Nurmita Dewi (Chemistry Department).

During 2 weeks, from April 10 until 18, 2017, with the other 18 participants who were selected as the winners of an essay competition entitled Write to China, the UGM students obtained an opportunity to visit Fujian Province in China. The competition was joined by 750 participants from various universities in Indonesia with an essay theme of What Indonesian Youth Thinks About China.

“As many as 20 Indonesian students and 20 Fujian students attended this programme which was held in Indonesia and China for 20 days,” said Albert on Wednesday (24/5).

Albert said during their visit to China, they were assisted with the selected students from China to visit several big cities in Xiame, Quanzhou, Putian, Fuzhou, and Wuyishan. They visited several universities, industries, governmental institutions, as well as historical and cultural tourism spots.

During the programme in Indonesia, all participants also visited several universities and tourism spots in several cities in Indonesia. The visits were organized in Jakarta, Bandung, Yogyakarta, and Bali.

“Besides promoting the cultures, this programme also aimed to strengthen the relation between Indonesian and Chinese youths,” he added.

Albert admitted he acquired many experiences and knowledge regarding Chinese cultures. Moreover, this programme also enhances his international network.

“There are many new things I obtain through this programme. One of them is I can learn Chinese cultures directly,” said Albert.
