Architecture study programme of UGM hosts Arch+Art Summer Course 2017 event from 2-12 August 2017, involving students and lecturers from Indonesian universities and abroad. It aims to give architectural enrichment related to aesthetics, arts and functions, and give understanding and experience related to local art and culture to the participants.
“In certain level, aesthetics is general for arts, design and architecture, but in practice it may differ in terms of development of concept, method, and expression,” said Head of Architecture study programme, Diananta Pramitasari, on Monday (14/8).
Dian added, Arch+Art Summer Course 2017 was expected to grow interaction between those areas so as to enrich each of them, especially architecture.
“The rich culture of Yogyakarta is the library that can be explored for learning, a stimulant to raise creativity as well as to equip with latest learning on quality architectural works. Arch+Art Summer Course 2017 is expected to be a program that can increase the excellence and reputation of Architecture study programme,” Dian explained.
Workshops, studio, and excursion of Arch+ArtSummer Course 2017 are done in the Faculty as well as in areas such as Kotagede, Deksa Kalibawang village in Kulon Progo, Bumi Pemuda Rahayu Dlingo, Yogyatorium, and Kasongan.
As many as 15 students and 5 lecturers joined Arch+Art Summer Course from Tohoku University, National University of Singapore, Universiti Sains Malaysia, Chiang Mai University, and Adamson University/ De La Salle College of Saint Benilde, Phillippines. “The rest 23 students come from Universitas Gadjah Mada, Universitas Katolik Parahyangan, Universitas Brawijaya, Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember and Universitas Kristen Duta Wacana,” Dian added.
Artists and architects from Yogyakarta that joined the programme include Samuel Indratma, Sindung Tjahyadi, Eko Prawoto, Ikaputra, and Eugenius Pradipto. There are also workshops presented by Papermoon Puppet Theatre, Alit Ayu, Koskow, Cemeti Institute of Art & Society, and MES 56.
