In order to encourage agriculture development, Faculty of Animal Sciences UGM held a free lecture entitled Farmers We Serve, as a knowledge transfer facility and a forum for the farmers to develop their network.
It was stated by Dean of Faculty of Animal Sciences UGM, Prof. Dr. Ir. Ali Agus, D.A.A., D.E.A. during the opening of the free lecture on Saturday (16/9) at the faculty.
“Around 50% of Indonesian society are farmers. Therefore, it is better for the farmers to stay close to science source which is Faculty of Animal Sciences UGM. By studying at Faculty of Animal Sciences UGM, the breeders can obtain knowledge and technology which are suitable with their necessity. Without science, the business run by the breeders would not develop well,” said Ali.
Ali Agus said the spirit of this free lecture is mutual cooperation. He also said currently animal husbandry has a big business opportunity. It has also been developed by Faculty of Animal Sciences, including cross-bred chicken, Gama Blue cows, yoghurt, etc.
“There are many business opportunities in animal husbandry sector considering the increase of Indonesian population. In line with the increase in population, the quality of consumed food also increases. The society tends to consume high-quality food such as meat and milk. It is our task to provide that qualified food,” said Ali.
